Family violence intersections with child protection
When: Tuesday 28 April, 10 am – 12 pm
Where: Online
Victim-survivors of family violence with children may also be involved with, or at risk of involvement with, the Victorian Child Protection Service child protection system, which can be distressing and difficult to navigate. Tenancy workers play a key role in supporting clients through this system, particularly when family violence and tenancy issues intersect.
Delivered by Women’s Legal Service Victoria, this 2-hour workshop explores how Child Protection becomes involved, the links between family violence and tenancy, and practical ways to support adult and child victim-survivors. Participants will gain clarity on referral and advocacy options within the scope of their role and strengthen their understanding in line with Pillars 2 and 3 of the MARAM framework.

The session will enable participants to centre client needs and experiences when making referrals, as well as how to make effective and appropriate connections, identify suitable services and understand key state-wide services available to renters.
This training is designed for tenancy workers and renter support service professionals. It is open to any level of experience, including both new workers and those wanting to refresh and improve their skills.
